Maykapar: Jackstraws (Biryulki)

Born in Kherson, Ukraine, Samuel Maykapar was a noted pianist and professor of music, but also operated a music school and taught young students. The latter lead to composition of numerous excellent pedagogical works particularly well suited for elementary and intermediate students. Biryulki Opus 28 (“Jackstraws” in English) is his most popular collection. This carefully edited set of 26 pieces offers a treasure trove of diverse and appealing pieces for study and performance.
