Afternoon Cruise - Score

Afternoon Cruise is a relaxed, medium swing tune that pays homage to one of the greatest jazz composers of all time, Benny Golson. This piece is inspired by Mr. Golson’s standard, “Killer Joe,” imitating the relaxed feel and similar chord progression of Golson’s masterwork. The open solo section allows students to improvise using only the notes of the concert F Blues scale. A written suggested solo is also included.
